Eight shortcuts built around what a student's day actually looks like. Lecture mode, study timers, campus navigation, assignment reminders, and phone-free focus blocks.

1. Lecture Mode

A home screen shortcut that silences your phone completely, dims the screen, and starts a timer for the duration of your lecture (set it when you run it). At the end of the timer, a gentle notification brings everything back to normal. One tap as you sit down. Your phone stays quiet without you having to remember to turn it back on.

2. Study Timer (Pomodoro)

25-minute timer. When it ends: a notification saying "5-minute break", followed automatically by a 5-minute timer. When that ends: back to "25-minute focus". The cycle runs until you manually stop it. No app. No subscription. Uses the native Timer action in Shortcuts.

3. Assignment Quick-Add

Ask for: assignment name, subject, due date. Creates a Reminder with that information and sets the due date. Faster than opening Reminders, tapping Add, entering each field manually. You hear the assignment in class, pull out your phone, tap the shortcut, enter three pieces of information, done.

4. Campus Navigation

A shortcut with your three or four most-used campus locations saved as choices in a menu. Tap the shortcut, select the location, opens directly in Maps with directions from your current position. Useful at the start of each semester when you're still finding rooms.

5. Log Study Hours

Ask for subject, duration in minutes. Appends an entry to a note with date, subject, and time logged. Over a semester you have a complete record of where your study time actually went. Useful for exam preparation and for understanding which subjects need more attention.

6. Morning Class Check

An Automation that runs at 7am on weekdays. Gets your calendar events for the day. If you have a class before 10am, it sends a notification 30 minutes before your first class: "Class at [time]: [subject]". Runs silently every weekday. You never sleep through a lecture you forgot about.

7. Distraction Block

Enables a custom Focus mode called "Study" that you've configured to block social media apps. Runs for a duration you set when you tap it. When the timer ends, Focus turns off automatically. You get a defined window of no distractions, then normal access returns. The key is the automatic end — you're not blocking access indefinitely, just during the time you actually planned to work.

8. End-of-Week Review Prompt

An Automation that runs at 6pm every Friday. Shows a notification: "Weekly review — 10 minutes." Tapping the notification runs a shortcut that opens your notes app to a specific weekly review template, your calendar for next week, and your reminders list. Everything you need for a ten-minute review, one tap, every Friday.
